Shopify Development Company for Indian D2C Brands

Shopify development is store build work: turning a catalogue, a payment setup and a set of operating rules into a storefront that loads on a mid-range phone and can be edited by the people who run it.

  • D2C & ecommerce
  • Fashion & apparel
  • Beauty & personal care
  • Health, wellness & nutrition
  • Salons, gyms & local services

Shopify removes most of the hard parts of running a store and introduces a few of its own, and the theme is where they gather. A bought theme with ten apps bolted onto it will render a product page two or three times over on a mid-range Android handset, and the merchant is left maintaining code nobody has explained to them. Our website development page covers marketing and brochure sites. This page is the Shopify-specific build: theme, sections, payments, and the operating plumbing an Indian store needs from day one.

That plumbing is where Indian D2C parts company with the global template. Cash on delivery is still a large share of orders in many categories, which makes return-to-origin a build decision rather than an afterthought: partial prepaid, order confirmation, address checks and serviceability all sit in the theme or in the apps around it. Shopify's payment options and app pricing in India have changed more than once, so we configure against what the platform offers on the day and ask you to confirm current terms directly rather than trusting a figure written last year.

Who this is for

Is this the right fit?

  • Brands launching on Shopify who would rather build once than patch for a year
  • Stores on a bought theme customised past the point where updates are possible
  • WooCommerce or Magento merchants tired of hosting, plugins and security patching
  • Merchants with a slow store who cannot tell which app is causing it
  • Brands whose last developer kept the store or theme on an account they control
Scope

What shopify development includes

Theme build and customisation

Built on editable sections so pages can be rearranged from the admin without a developer on call, with custom sections where your catalogue needs them and metafields for the product attributes that would otherwise be pasted into the description.

Payments, COD and checkout setup

Gateways connected, cash on delivery rules set, partial prepaid or confirmation steps added where your return rate justifies them, and shipping zones and serviceability configured. Platform and gateway terms move, so we set up against current options and hand you the settings.

Speed and app audit

Every app embed and injected script checked for what it loads and on which pages. The usual finding is a few apps running site-wide for one feature. We limit, replace or remove those and measure the page before and after rather than assuming a gain.

Platform migration

Products, variants, customers, orders and content moved from WooCommerce, Magento or a custom build, with the URL map written before anything is switched. The redirects decide whether the move costs you traffic, so they are tested in staging first.

Templates that sell

Product templates carrying size, material, delivery and returns information where buyers look for it, collection templates for your main categories, and a bundle or combo layout where the catalogue supports one. Ranking work sits on our Shopify SEO page.

Handover and ownership

The store stays on your Shopify account, your domain and your gateway, with the theme in your admin and a recorded walkthrough of how to edit it. No agency-held logins, and no private theme your team cannot export.

Process

How we run it

  1. Scope and catalogue review

Product count, variant structure, the attributes buyers filter on, payment and shipping rules, and every app you currently depend on. That review decides the theme approach before a single screen is designed.

  2. Design and section plan

Templates designed against your real products and real photography, with the section list agreed in advance so the admin ends up holding the controls your team will need every week.

  3. Build and configure

Theme build, metafields, payments, shipping and COD rules, with apps installed only where a feature genuinely requires one. All of it happens on a development store or an unpublished theme.

  4. Migrate and test

Data import, redirect map applied, then test orders run end to end: prepaid, cash on delivery, a refund and a deliberately failed payment, plus device checks before anything goes public.

  5. Launch and handover

Domain switch, live payment verification, one real order followed through to fulfilment, then documentation and a working session with whoever runs the store day to day.

Deliverables

What you actually get

  • Production theme installed in your own Shopify admin

  • Metafield structure for product attributes
  • Payment, shipping, tax and cash-on-delivery configuration
  • Redirect map and data migration where you are changing platform
  • App audit listing what stays, what goes and the reason for each
  • Test order log covering prepaid, COD, refund and failure cases
  • Handover documentation and a recorded editing walkthrough

How pricing works

Quoted per project against the catalogue and the template list. Our published website starting price on the pricing page is where a small store with a configured theme sits; custom sections, metafield structures, a bundle system or a platform migration are scoped on top. Shopify's own subscription, app charges and gateway fees are paid by you to those providers and change over time, so we list them beside the quote instead of folding them into our fee.

Answers

Shopify Development: frequently asked

What does a Shopify store cost to set up in India?

Our build pricing starts at the published website rate on the pricing page and rises with template count, catalogue size and migration work. Separate from our fee are Shopify's own subscription, any paid apps and your gateway's transaction charges, all of which are billed to you directly and have been revised more than once, so check current rates with each provider.

Should we move from WooCommerce to Shopify?

Move if hosting, plugin conflicts and security patching have become somebody's part-time job, or if checkout reliability is costing orders. Stay if you depend on custom logic that would need rebuilding as an app. The real cost of moving is the redirect map and the data cleanup, not the theme, and both are predictable when planned before the switch.

How do we handle cash on delivery properly?

Decide the rules before the build, because they land across several places. Which pincodes and cart values allow COD, whether high-risk orders need a confirmation step, whether a small prepaid portion is collected, and how returns are recorded when parcels come back. Those choices sit in theme logic and app settings, and retrofitting them is more disruptive than deciding upfront.

Why is our Shopify store slow?

Nearly always three things together: oversized product and banner images, a theme doing work on every page load that one page needs, and app scripts injected store-wide for a single feature. We test what each contributes before touching it, since removing an app people depend on to win a metric is not a fair trade.

Do we own the store and the theme afterwards?

Yes. The store is created under your own Shopify account and your domain, the theme lives in your admin where it can be duplicated or exported, and every app subscription is billed to you. We are added as staff or a collaborator and that access can be revoked whenever you choose, without anything breaking.
